Course Description
The Ethics Briefing is a concise summary of basic ethics standards applicable to State officers and employees in the Executive branch. The ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ State Ethics Commission requires that State employees in the Executive Branch complete an ethics briefing in any year in which they do not complete a comprehensive ethics training program.
Learning Objectives
After completion of the course, you will be able to:
• Understand the zero tolerance policy for gratuities, tips, and gifts
• Give examples of items of nominal value
• Know when to contact your agency’s Ethics Liaison Officer (ELO)
• Understand the rules for business meals and reimbursement
• Understand the rules for attendance at events and when to complete an Events Form
• Define what constitutes a conflict of interest
• Distinguish the difference between acceptable and unacceptable political activities
• Understand the restrictions of future employment and post-State employment
• Understand the penalties for violations to the Ethics Code
