Emy Quispe Named Chief of Staff at NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 9, 2026

TRENTON – The ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL) today formally announced Emy Quispe as its Chief of Staff, bringing more than a decade of public service and executive leadership experience to the department.

“We are honored to have Emy Quispe join this department as our Chief of Staff,” said Acting Labor Commissioner Kevin D. Jarvis. “Her depth of executive leadership experience navigating complex organizations will immediately strengthen our ability to deliver for the people of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ. Her strategic vision and collaborative approach will be instrumental as we advance our mission to protect workers, support employers, and expand opportunities for every community across the Garden State.”

Quispe, who is a proud resident of Elizabeth, has dedicated her career to public service. She most recently served as deputy chief of staff to former Governor Phil Murphy. In that role, she managed key external constituencies and helped advance critical administration priorities. Her previous work experience includes serving as director of the Governor’s Office of Legislative Affairs, where she oversaw the Administration’s legislative agenda, helped pass laws benefiting ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏans in every corner of the state, and strengthened relationships with members of the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Senate and General Assembly.

“I am honored to be a part of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development at this historic moment in the Sherrill Administration,” said Labor Chief of Staff Quispe. “I look forward to continuing to serve the people of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ and working alongside the dedicated public servants at NJDOL to promote diverse opportunities and increase access, strengthen worker protections, continue our partnerships with established and new businesses, and help ensure our economy works for everyone.”

Before joining the Executive Branch, Quispe served in the Office of the Speaker Pro Tempore Assemblywoman Annette Quijano and as deputy director for Latino and Faith-Based Outreach on Governor Murphy’s 2021 re-election campaign. Earlier in her career, she worked as a political organizer and coordinator with Service Employees International Union, Local 32BJ (SEIU), one of the nation’s largest unions representing building service workers, advocating for stronger benefits, improved working conditions, and dignity at the worksite.
